Is it Spring in East Texas?

In a little more than a week, Punxsutawney Phil will let Americans know whether they will experience an early Spring, or whether they will suffer through six more weeks of what has been a really cold winter.

Groundhog Day, February 2nd, is a legend that traverses centuries, its origins clouded in the mists of time with ethnic cultures and animals awakening on specific dates. Myths such as this tie our present to the distant past when nature did, indeed, influence our lives.

It is the day that the Groundhog comes out of his hole after a long winter sleep to look for his shadow.

If he sees it, he regards it as an omen of six more weeks of bad weather and returns to his hole.

If the day is cloudy and, hence, shadowless, he takes it as a sign of spring and stays above ground.

While other parts of the country are suffering under "mountains of snow", and hoping that Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow, the residents of East Texas have been experiencing beautiful, sunshiny, warm days.

It appears that Spring has already "Sprung."

Fishermen are on the lake, motorcyclists are exploring the hilly back roads and country scenery, bicyclists are training for their next big race. This time of year in East Texas is absolutely phenomenal. It is the perfect season to start "playing" in our gardens, preparing them for planting, pressure washing the mud from the rains and snows that we have experienced and start all of those "Spring Cleaning Projects" we all talk about.

While East Texans don't seem to need Punxsutawney Phil to tell them that Spring is in the air; most do need the expertise of a Realtor to help them find their dream vacation/retirement home.

This is the best time of year to start looking on Lake Livingston.

This is also a great time to update that older home and freshen it up getting it ready to sell.

Whatever your needs happen to be, the friendly staff at Goehrs Properties, Inc. are ready to help.

Let one of our experieced agents help you sell your home or help you find that perfect dream get away!
